The best thing DOL did was to get rid of Labor Subs. Period.
Why:
1. I've paid Social Security taxes + Medicare + Income taxes longer than people who've come here in 2006 and used LS. If I don't get GC (frustration due to retrogression), aren't these guys enjoying (or going to enjoy) benefits that I've paid for, for a longer time.
2. It's really no different than the system in India (or what used to be)for getting everything from telephone, passport etc. where a select few jump ahead in line by either knowing somebody or paying somebody. Isn't that one of the reasons a lot of us decided to move to the US for better(fairer?) opportunities.
3. Isn't this very similar to the falsifying of experience people do to get better positions in a company?
4. Yes, I do have a problem if after slogging my butt off to get a Ph.d, somebody with 3 yrs + 2yr of NIIT comes in through desi consultancy and gets far ahead in line than me. Now before somebody says NIW+ EB1, let me tell you that it's not that easy to get it in the Computer Sciences.
Anyway, having said that it's no time to be divided, but to present an unified front in getting legislation passed that eliminates exactly this kind of discussion. Atleast 20 yrs down the line when we talk about arranging marriages between our children, let how we got GC be a deciding factor in who's got the bigger status :D

if any GC applicants are contracted to write new code for their system, please remember to insert some logic to 'take care' of the visa number distribution algorithms :D ...( just a joke)

I understand the informational part of your post, but i don't understand the bad news part of it. How does getting a 2yr EAD change your I-485 processing? It will get processed whenever it supposed to be processed next.
There are ppl like me - EAD is pending for over 3.5 months and there's no decision. Be content with the fact that yours was approved in time and it's icing on cake that it's 2 yrs validity. the way i see it, it's all good news. Point me to the bad news please.

My retired parents are visiting me and will be here for atleast six months. Mom is fine but Dad is extremely bored in just two days. Can you guys suggest how do I keep him busy while having him help us with IV activities? He has excellent communication skills. One thing I think of is having him surf the net and research immigration related media contacts all across the nation. Please comment with your suggestions.

Close to $1000 for my wife and me. (about $800 for medical, $50 for photos, rest in express mail, international phone calls and faxes, gas, etc.) I am not assigning any monetary value to the hours and hours of personal time this took...

The message says designated time frame, without specifying what the "designated time frame" is. I am just curious, where did you find that 120 days is the "designated time frame"?

As of now, for the background/name check -time frame in FBI rule-book is 120 days. It will be great if uscis can approve AOS if nothing adverse is reported by FBI within 120 days

I understand your situation as i was there once. If you dont have insurance than your options are very limited. if you live in dallas county parkland hospital is your only choice. Parkland has a network of several clinics around DFW area. Every clinic has financial assistance department. You can visit any of those and they will setup a payment plan which is reasonable based on your income. You will visit them for all prenatal care and when the time comes for delivery it will be taken to parkland. and parkland is a very good hospital as well. beside parkland several hospitals also offer cash plans like RHD memorial at 635 but they will charge you close to 4k just for delivery day and if its a normal one. you will have to do prenatal at your own.

i think this still upholds the memorandum with regards to porting off on unapproved i-140. if you notice the case they have cited "Matter of Al Wazzan" is date Oct, 2005 where as the favourable Yates memo came out in Dec 2005.
what i understand is that they are just reiterating that porting off on unapproved i-140 is not automatic and requires that the adjudicator decide on the pending i-140 first before deciding wether the porting off is protected under AC21 or not.
but again...i myself am waiting for clarifications from immigration law websites like murthy.com and immigration-law.com etc.

I saw lud chnage on my 485 on 2/5/09. How long the finger prints are valid?
Is any one's LUD changed recently?
Would you mind updating your profile. The 4 or 5 posts above yours were about LUD's. I am not sure what else you asking for. ??
And, finger prints are usually valid for 15 months, and there is no definite trend as to who is asked for finger prints again and who is not.

The photos I got from CVS was not bright enough. So the guy brightened the photos for me. Now the photos look a little touched up ...
