My 485 application was received by USCIS at Nebraska Center on July 06, 2007 per the tracking receipt. My attorney received the receipts intrestingly from California service Center with receipt date July 06, 2007. I received a transfer notice from California Service Center dated Sept 12, 2007, with receipt date as Sept 04, 2007. Also the check was cashed on Sept 06, 2007.
Should I worry about the receipt date on the transfer notice?
Would this delay my processing of 485?

Ignore the IOs, just talk to your Senator or Congressman. They will be able to help you out. I was stuck in name check for more than 3 years. My congressman did not help but the senators office had a namecheck cell and they help out with genuine cases. The person there helped me clear my name check in 2-3 months (talk, dont email, send certified letter with details after talking to them). Had i known this earlier I would have had contacted them earlier and would have gotten my GC in June 07. My lawyer sdid not allow us to contact the IOs for information and i suffered big time because of that. Based on my experience all i can say is be proactive.
I don't know if my NC is cleared. Tried to find it couple of times calling over phone but always ran into unfriendly IO officers.
Got out of BEC in dec 2006, I140 cleared in Jan 2007 but then my PD became current only in June 2007. And due to laziness of my law firm, my I-485 filing did not happen in June and got dragged into July 07 mess.
I think if USCIS had initiated my Namecheck as per normal timeline (sometime around when my I-485 filed , i.e anywhere between July - Sep 2007), then yes, I think it crossed 180 days long time back.

What do you say about your problem when you take InfoPass. You can't take an appointment to just ask what is happening to your case, unless several months have passed after all sorts of dates.
I dont belive it when ppl take silly suggestions seriously. We should know better having been in this mess for years now...

Why are we rambling on and on about this? There is absolutely no connection between India buying fighter jets and immigration. That was what the OP wanted to know. If the immigration processes will get affected because India excluded Boeing and Lockheed. There seems to be no connection between the two issues. Period.

for those with masters or phd there is already a special quota called EB1. All of the others are not different from one another. if with your MS/PhD you are going to do the same kind of job any qualified person from India would do, what is the need for a special catagory. You have to prove your point then everybody will agree. Just by saying "special quota for MS" we will ask; WHY? show us the reason. I know lot of engineering graduates/MBAs/research scientists who have got MS from here but dont see any special significant contribution. I also know lot of professionals (specialists in medical / other fields) who were trained in the US and are significantly valued all over the world. So to put it briefly, this argument will not work with the law makers. People with PhD and lot of publications / patents / significant contributions etc definitely need a special quota and they already have one. The rest of us are in the same boat friends.

Depending on the education requirement on the labor certificate and how the lawyer responds and how your evaluatoin is done, you could have an excellent chance. I am an evaluator and we have had most MTR's approved with a 3+2 or 3+3. There is a good deal of documentation on your side. I will be happy to examine your documents if you have not yet filed and do a no charge analysis. Even if PD is not current, I believe you can convert CP to AOS. Check Murthy website or talk to them.
If this cannot happen for you then you should look for a change towards this provision.
But EAD & AP fro CP is not going to fly administratively. As others have stated it is contradictory.

As a CP filer myself, I want to say that job stability concerns are very valid for CP filers, who are haunted by last summer's greenlight and today's major retrogression. The landscape has changed for everyone, for both queues. From personal experience of being in the BEC backlog, being too early for PERM and too late for concurrent filing, after 5 years of being in this process and seeing the further backlog ahead, yes I was willing to pick CP (even though I would be giving up my ability to work as the spouse) because it looked like things were finally moving last summer. The option was there for people to choose, and nobody knew the dates would roll back so painfully again. Equally, I also want to point out that IV IS about everyone and these marvellous efforts IV continues to put together and inspiring in all of us, are beneficial to all because the overall goal is to ease the backlog which is holding everyone back. Now that this discussion has happened we are all aware of the new problem that is facing CP filers in severly retrogressed countries. And it is better that this is brought to light as we continue forward. Please everyone, continue supporting the letter campaign and let's be united and discuss these issues with respect for one another.

Spillover from Family or Employment quota of a particular year cannot be given to the following year. So the fact that there is nothing left from the family quota of 2008 doesn't change any situation here.
So, this year the spillover that Employment category can get from Family quota will be the unused numbers of 2009 Family quota.
This is just my thought!

I am a consultant on H1B with EAD now. In my office (a major bank in US) I am 200% safe than the employees there.. they live like what you said (thinking when their job is at risk) and I am there in the job for last 3 years with a bright future.. I never blame the situatiuon I am in..
My view is " I have not born to live in A country or work for A company" I will always find my way out..
We bought a house recently and I know how many of my friends look at us and sigh a breath as they cannot do what they want for the fear of GC..
We are one happy family with our kids running around the house like they do in India...
just my thoughts.. not to meant to hurt anyone..
I dont expect everyone to agree with me - esp those who already have houses. my point was for those who are renting to keep on renting.
btw you can also rent a house - and those are quite cheap too nowadays.
everyone is 200% safe in their jobs till they lose it ..btw some of the big banks may fold too.
it is not necessary that yr friends cannot do what you have done - maybe they are smarter and more patient than you ..
