Ask your law firm why they are charging you so much. Below are the rates charged by my lawyer and should not be too different from what most of the others charge. If the lawyer doesn't answer, then show these numbers to your employer and lodge a strong protest with them.
Adjustment of Status
Principal applicant $1,000
Dependent applicant $500
Work Authorization Cards (each) $200
Advance Parole Travel Documents(each)$200
If you are working on an hourly basis, does your employer pay you when you're on the bench? If he doesn't, keep record of that and once you get your GC sue him over back wages and complain to DOL. These people don't deserve any thing better.
I doubt there is some thing like range fixed for lawyers. They can charge what ever they want. Asking those Q's will only cause more resentment than any thing else.

After I heard from the Infopass IO that my case is all set and it is sitting in the NSC examination room, I have been trying my best to get my file to the attention of an IO at NSC. This is what I have done till now. Don't know if this would work. If not, what the heck?
1. Wrote to my state's senators
2. Wrote to Ombudsman
3. Wrote to my Congressman
4. Wrote to the President
5. Have opened a SR
6. My attorney is taking an Infopass appointment to see why it is stuck.

I agree with most of the comments, the backlog definitely seems to be the overbearing issue here. The USCIS has faced a great deal of criticism because of this backlog, which many people argue is highly unfair. Finally approved for all family members except my wife (Dependent).
We submitted normal Birth certificate from Municipal Corporation. But got RFE on Birth Document. Any body aware of secondary evidence for birth document. They are asking for oldest health, school, Census or religious record that shows both parent names and DOB.
Anybody experienced this type of RFE before?

That I heard too!! GCs were distributed at Monument but I was late as I could only join at Captol Hill :p so got only FP notice.

FBI background check delay is the only reason why visa numbers are wasted every year. Pending I485 cannot be adjudicated and allocated visa numbers due to pending security checks. At the same time these pending I485s also don't let the visa bulletin dates move forward fast enough. Just wait and see how this problem is going to get worse in the coming years.
Retrogression is a serious problem right now due to quotas and country quotas. But backlogged FBI checks will make it worse for thousands of people.
I agree with everybody on this thread. I agree this solution ( if any) will be a band aid. I also agree the band-aid is needed to prevent the wound from becoming fetid. I agree this may exacerbate problems.
For all these reasons, it is imperative we do not stop after this anouncement. Our long term goal has to be retrogression relief in one form or the other, including all or some of recapture of unused visas, increase in annual quota, resolution of the FBI name chack black hole, and more that able persons in IV can doubtless think of better than yours truly.

Is it possible to have a door to door campaign in apartment complexes and educating Indian/Chinese/Philippine population around DC area. Or maybe a group of 2-3 volunteers standing in ethinic groceries/eateries and educating our community of what we are trying to do and why we need their support and how it will benefit all of us. I know it is easy to say this but if we need people to be motivated we need along with this HIGH TECH... we need some personal touch. People will come if people see people going. I mean SEEING. Maybe these writings and commonsense things dicussed here inspires/motivates us but a majority need a push/nudge in person. Hope we could arrange for volunteers around DC area (driving distance to DC) and rally up more numbers.

I do not know how feasible this is, but if in your employment letter, there is a description of responsibilities, and additionally a statement like: "The job being offered to XXX falls under O-NET classification 15-1031," then you are completely covered, because the employer is positing that the job being offered to you falls under that classification. Again, don't emphasize technologies etc., just the job description and mainly classification.
The AC21 language is very clear: "same or similar occupational classification"
It does not say job responsibilities or job title. These are interpretations of that term and used to DETERMINE the occupational classification. So as long as the occupational classification matches or is similar, you should be fine.
Also, the O-NET classification is from SOC which stands for "standard OCCUPATIONAL CLASSIFICATION." It can't get any clearer than that :-)

Especially, all dependents including infants/kids need to go either to canada or India forcing to loose 3-4 days of vacation.

^^This is not gonna happen... and even if it did....well I guess the companies will finally take notice when there are no new people to hire and fire and their bottom lines are hit with permanent hires for every small and odd project......guess what that they will do then....outsource more work to other countries......:)
Good or bad, Virtue or Vice, companies simply can't hire permanent employees with full 'American' benefits for short-term projects....this where the consulting leeches come in.....its all supply and demand man....
